THE area's largest swimming club ended its season on a high with 52 swimmers finishing with medal wins.

Fresh from their Clyde Coast Mini-League victory, swimmers from REN96 competed against teams from across Scotland and finished with 29 gold medals, 22 silver, and 21 bronze during a two-day development meet at the On-x in Linwood.

A further 58 swimmers finished in the top six.

Swimmers also saw their personal best (PB) improve, where out of the 232 swims, the club's swimmers set 166 PBs, a ‘strike rate’ of 72 per cent.

Rhys received special mention, winning all 10 events he entered despite swimming above his age group.

On Sunday, at the mini-development meet, 37 swimmers competed and walked away with 13 gold medals, nine silver, and 13 bronze medals as well as 29 top six finishes.

Additionally, the PB rate remained exceptional with 94 out of 124 swims giving a 76 percent strike rate.

Lily won her first swimming medal, a gold in the 100m individual medley, followed up by a bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

A REN96 spokesperson said: “Well done and thanks to everybody but particularly to the REN96 Team Managers, who had the unenviable task of tracking down the excited, young swimmers and getting them to report for their races on time and did so with energy, enthusiasm and fun throughout the session.”
