A special football tournament was recently held in Renfrewshire to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Street Stuff.

Around 200 youngsters aged between 10 and 15 from across the region gathered at the SMiSA Stadium in Paisley for the celebratory Street Stuff Football Festival.

The young people were given a taste of professional football by playing in teams on the pitch.

Street Stuff is a partnership programme supported by various organisations such as Renfrewshire Council, St Mirren Football Club, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue, and Engage Renfrewshire.

It offers a variety of sports and social activities free of charge for young people aged 8–16 at numerous locations across Renfrewshire from Monday to Saturday.

The initiatives also include educational opportunities and support into volunteering and employment.

Stevie Gallacher, Street Stuff manager, said: "It was a great turn out with all young people and parents having a great time.

"I feel privileged to have been part of the Street Stuff programme for the last 15 years.

"No two days are the same and working with young people is very rewarding seeing them develop and progress into positive destinations."

Renfrewshire Provost Lorraine Cameron added: "Street Stuff continues to help young people thrive with weekly activities and regular events across the year that they love to take part in.

"It’s why the programme remains successful.

"Celebrating 15 years of the programme working within our communities is an important milestone.

"The football festival was a great success and gave young people an opportunity not many have had, hopefully inspiring their future career ambitions."
