Speed merchant Magnus Morris is dreaming of Olympic glory after proving his ability at the Edinburgh International Swim Meet.
Flying the flag for the REN96 club, Morris made it through to the final of the 50m freestyle.
The meet is a key preparation event leading into the British Olympic Trials, which will take place in London next month.
Morris narrowly missed the Olympic trials time by just 0.04 seconds as he progressed through the freestyle competition.
However, he also finished second in the youth final and his time in that event was enough to secure qualification for the trials.
Morris was one of four senior performance swimmers from REN96 who raced at the Edinburgh meet, which attracted some of the best competitors from across Britain, including multiple Olympic medallists.
There were also representatives of senior international teams from across Europe.
Ross McCafferty, REN96 head coach, said “It’s not only great to see REN96 swimmers competing at this level but to see them all make improvements in times, set personal bests in their races and make finals across the three days is excellent.
“From REN96, Magnus’ performance was the standout of the weekend.
“Competing and performing so well at these events would not be possible without our many coaches, team managers, volunteers and supporters.”
