Kilbarchan athlete Jemma Reekie will compete on a global stage next month after being named in Great Britain’s squad for the World Indoor Championships.
Reekie will have plenty of home support at the prestigious event, being staged in Glasgow.
The squad announcement came just hours after she cruised to victory in the 800m final at the UK Indoors in Birmingham on Sunday in a time of 1:58.24, setting a new championship record along the way.
Reekie, 25, is hoping for further success in Glasgow as she prepares for the Olympics in Paris this summer.
She said: “I start on every start line to win and I will be doing that in Glasgow, especially in front of a home crowd.
“I really want to get my first senior medal, as I have been so close. I will take any medal but, of course, my eyes are on gold.
“After Glasgow, everything will be focused on Paris.”
