Gallagher Lennon, son of Celtic hero Neil, has joined Dumbarton on loan from St Mirren until the end of the season ahead of the League 2 side facing Rangers in the Scottish Cup.

The defender has yet to play to a competitive game for the Paisley side after signing in the summer.

He has been capped at international level by Northern Ireland U18s.

The 18-year-old will go straight into the squad for the match against the Ibrox club on Saturday.

He previously turned out for Lowland League side Linlithgow Rose late last year, where he made his professional debut.

Speaking at the time, he said: "I thought from the first whistle we were outstanding. All the boys played with a very high intensity.

“The tempo was good, we passed the ball well and it was good to score a load of goals and keep the clean sheet as well.

"I'm loving it to be fair, it's really good club. I love the stadium and the boys around it as well.

"It's been brilliant, really good."

The youngster was also previously on the books of Partick Thistle.
