RENFREW were knocked out of the West of Scotland Cup at the first hurdle after a 4-2 defeat against Kilwinning Rangers on Saturday.
Frew were looking to do the double over their Ayrshire opponents after picking up a 2-1 victory in the league at New Western Park earlier this season but were on the wrong end of the scoreline at Buffs Park this time out.
Dylan Mackin and Gavin Millar had the hosts in a seemingly comfortable position – and it could have been more, had Danny McLeay not saved a penalty from Mackin – but Jimmy Quigley’s side hit back before the break to level up thanks to Andrew Wright and Ben McLernan.

Despite their positive response, the NWP side fell behind again 10 minutes after the interval when Millar got his second and Neil McGregor made Buffs’ spot in the second round safe with 10 minutes to go.
Renfrew return to league business this weekend with a trip to Blantyre Victoria.
Kick-off at KG Stadium on Saturday is 2pm.
