Renfrew manager Jimmy Quigley praised his players for winning the West of Scotland Football League Second Division...and insisted they are worthy champions.
The New Western Park team sealed the title with a 2-0 victory over Glasgow University on Friday night.
Quigley told Gazette Sport: “It’s been a long, hard season. To lead from start to finish and being chased all the way, the boys deserve some amount of credit.
“It was all about getting to the top and then just not looking down.

“Any points we’ve dropped have been of our own making, so we thoroughly deserve it and I don’t think anyone could argue with it.
“The fact we have had to wait to get the job done until the second last game of the season shows how tight the league is.”
Renfrew had to be patient against Glasgow University as the opening goal didn't arrive until the second half, when Dom Innes burst down the left and fired an unstoppable shot across goal and into the far corner.
The lead was doubled on 66 minutes when Ciaran Diver beat his man on the right and crossed to the back post for Gregor Wylie to net with a diving header.

Quigley said: “The first half was quite hard work and you could tell some of the boys were quite nervous but, in the second half, we controlled the game really well.”
Renfrew have now achieved an impressive double this season, after also winning the Strathclyde Demolition Cup.
Quigley will soon turn his attention to the 2023/24 campaign and the challenge of making an impact in what looks set to be a competitive First Division.
He said: “I’ve not started thinking about next season yet. We’ll speak to all the boys and look to get most of them tied down and build on that.”
