Renfrew boss Jimmy Quigley felt like it was two points dropped in the top-of-the-table clash with St Anthony’s on Saturday.
The visitors twice took the lead at McKenna Park but were pegged back on both occasions, despite Ants playing much of the match with 10 men.
Cameron Kerr had fired Renfrew ahead before Adam Gibbons was dismissed for the home side.
Despite being a man down, Martin Mullaney equalised before the half-time break.
Renfrew regained the lead on 56 minutes, courtesy of Jamie Benton, but Warin Omar hauled Ants back on level terms from the penalty spot eight minutes later to complete the scoring.
Quigley was pleased by his team’s first half performance but believes the red card for Gibbons led to them taking their foot off the gas.
He told Gazette Sport: “I thought we started the game really composed and moved the ball about really well. The movement was good and there was plenty of chances created but we never took enough of them. We could have been out of sight at half-time.
“I don’t think we deserved anything out of the game after the second half performance but I’ll take the point.
“If you had watched the second half, you wouldn’t know who had ten men.
“Players subconsciously get a bit lazy when that happens because you’ve got an extra guy and they don’t make the same runs or pick up certain players.
“We had a goal chopped off for offside, which wasn’t offside, but apart from that we never really created anything in the second half.”
Quigley believes his players aren’t yet back to their best after the festive break but has urged them to quickly improve performances ahead of the Strathclyde Demolition Cup final against Whitletts Victoria at the end of this month.
He added: “It’s going to take us two or three weeks to get back to our best and plenty of games is the best way to get back to what we can do.
“We’ve got league games on Wednesday and Saturday and then the cup final next weekend, so we want to get maximum points and get game time for some boys as well and see if they can push for a start in the final.”
Renfrew host Maryhill tonight, with kick-off at 7.30pm, before Greenock are the visitors to New Western Park on Saturday, with that match getting underway at 1.30pm.
