A local vocalist and coach will lead a festive singing workshop at Paisley & District u3a's next monthly meeting.
Stephanie Strachan will lead the event which is scheduled for Thursday, December 5, at 2pm in the Salvation Army Hall on Mill Street.
Stephanie, who works with various community choirs and choral groups, will guide participants in learning new songs and practising different melodies.
She said: "I am delighted to be asked along to lead everyone in song.
"I believe everyone can and should sing, and that singing should be available on the NHS.
"I used my dissertation at university to highlight singing as medicine.
"There are already significant studies into the benefits, from Scottish Opera's Breath Cycle which involved participants with cystic fibrosis, to other singing projects for people with COPD, anxiety and depression - and the list goes on.
"With community and inclusivity at the heart of my work, I am so excited to get everyone singing some festive favourites to bring in the holidays."
Kathy O’Donnell, chair u3a, said: "According to scientists, listening to music or making it is good for our health.
"Some people might feel shy about singing aloud while others are happy to raise the roof.
"We hope everyone who attends will find it is a fun way to boost their spirits this winter."
Attendees can also enjoy seasonal refreshments from 1.30pm to 2pm, before the singing begins.
