A much-loved model railway club is hoping to attract around 2000 visitors with the return of its popular show.

The Renfrewshire Model Railway Club is set to host the Paisley Model Railway Show next weekend, between December 7 and 8.

It promises a mixture of model railway displays and traders with fun planned for all ages.

“My parents used to take me along to the Paisley Model Railway Show, and then when I was old enough I joined the club,” Mark said.

“I’ve been going ever since.”

“There’s a wide variety of different layouts – everything from n-gauge through to o-gauge and a couple of strange gauges in between,” he said.

The gauge refers to the distance between individual rails, which determines the width of the track.

There will be around 35 different layouts – some of which have never been seen in Scotland before – giving model railway enthusiasts a chance to see “something a bit different”.

The smallest layout is around the size of a box file, while the largest layout is set to be more than 36 feet long.

The show makes an ideal trip for some festive shopping, with more than 10 traders setting up stalls selling new, second-hand and bespoke items.

“It’s a fun little day out for a family to come along just before Christmas time,” Mark said.

Mark added that the club hopes to launch a bigger model railway show next summer in a new venue in Paisley with more capacity.
