Join us as we take a trip down memory lane to reminisce about what was happening 20 years ago in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire.

We have delved into the Barrhead News and Gazette archives to pick out some stories.

Here are some photographs from our editions which were published on Wednesday, November 10, 2004.

Do you remember these stories or spot any familiar faces?

1. Emma's hilarious panto role

Three talented siblings were set to tread the boards together in a major panto at the SECC. Emma Dukes, 15, was taking on a lead role in the performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs while her brother Alister, 12, and sister Sarah, 17, were set to dance in the production. The Bishopton teenager was to dress up in tracksuit, Burberry cap and scarf to play a ned in the fairytale, which had been given a distinct Glasgow flavour.

2. Reach for the stars

A Renfrew boy was chosen for a trip of a lifetime to NASA. Christopher Coulter, who was in fifth year at Trinity High, was set to head to Texas the following year. The lucky pupil was selected for a place on the Scottish Space School programme at Johnson Space Centre in Houston.

3. Pupils perform in school play

Performing pupils from Renfrew High put the finishing touches on their latest school play. Actors had a dress rehearsal for their rendition of Big - The Musical, based on the popular Tom Hanks film.

4. Community centre hosts fun day

(Image: Newsquest) THE recently-refurbished Dalmeny Community Centre in Barnes Street hosted a fun day for the kids. The day also marked the opening of their new computer suite, an event that was attended by local MP Jim Murphy.

5. Footie stars of the future

Barrhead Boys Club Under 9s team was busy training on Dunterlie’s pitches when our snapper caught up with them.

6. Pupils presented with gift

Pupils from Uplawmoor Primary proudly showed off the footballs that were presented to them by the Barrhead News as part of the previous year's school awards.
