The findings of a recent inspection at a care home in Paisley have been published.

Braemount Nursing Home received an unannounced visit from the Care Inspectorate on September 3, 4 and 5.

The home, which is operated by the Advinia Care Group, is registered to provide a care service to a maximum of 90 older people of whom 60 may have dementia.

Fifty people were living at the home at the time of the inspection.

In evaluating the service a six-point scale was used with 1 meaning unsatisfactory and 6 meaning excellent.

The home on Donaldswood Road was rated as 4 or good in two categories, “how good is our setting?” and “how well is our care and support planned?”.

It was rated as 3 or adequate in three categories, “how well do we support people's wellbeing?”, “how good is our leadership?” and “how good is our staff team?”.

A number of key messages were outlined in the report.

Inspectors said that management and staff knew people well and were good at building positive relationships with people and their families.

Staff were also said to be highly motivated and committed to wanting to provide the best support to people.

Care planning and health and wellbeing recording, however, required improvement to ensure these are holistic and outcome focused.

Inspectors also reported that people were supported by a skilled and knowledgeable staff team.

The care home was, however, told to improve quality assurance systems to enable the management team to have clear visions for improvement.

Management were said to be aware of the improvements required to improve the consistency and quality of support for people.

As part of this inspection, the Care Inspectorate assessed the service's self-evaluation of key areas.

Inspectors found that the service had made positive progress in completing their self-evaluation and that the service should continue to develop this approach to support improvement.

To prepare for the inspection, the Care Inspectorate reviewed information about the service, including previous inspection findings, information submitted by the service and intelligence gathered since the last inspection.

In making their evaluations of the service they spoke with 13 people using the service and eight of their relatives.

They also spoke with 15 members of staff and management, observed practice and daily life, reviewed documents and had contact with professionals linked to the service.

The report stated that no complaints have been upheld since the last inspection.

A spokesperson for Advinia Care Group said: "As a home we are pleased with the positive findings of our recent Care Inspectorate report, which underscores our commitment to quality care.

"We are especially proud of the praise for our staff’s dedication, skills, and the strong relationships they’ve built with residents and families.

"The report also highlighted our well-maintained, welcoming facilities.

"While we are encouraged by this feedback, we remain dedicated to continuous improvement in all areas, ensuring Braemount Nursing Home is a safe and caring environment for all residents."
