1. Swimmer Rebecca set to be Oz-some
Swimming sensation Rebecca Hillis from Neilston made a splash by being selected for Scotland’s Commonwealth Youth Games team. Hours of hard work and years of dedication paid off for the 14- year-old who booked her place in the 69 strong team set to compete in Bendigo, Australia.
2. Rain fails to dampen walk
Kids at Neilston Primary took part in walk to school week. The only problem was the fact that they had to trudge through the rain to get to their classes.
3. Pupils say it best by saying nothing at all
Pupils at Barrhead High took part in a sponsored silence. The event was just one part of the school’s initiative supporting Fair Trade by exploring the issues surrounding poverty. The school also set up a stall selling fair trade produce which proved to be extremely popular with the pupils.
4. Fancy dress surprise for Tony
Tony Hart got the shock of his life when he walked into the Howwood’s Railway Inn. Family and friends lay in wait complete with fancy dress ready to celebrate Tony’s 70th birthday.
5. I’m swapping my Safeway store tie for Thai boxing
A young dad from Johnstone was hoping to box his way to world success in a tough competition in Thailand. Andrew Henderson was set to take on the best Thai boxing talent while representing Scotland. The Safeway worker was specially selected for the national squad heading to south east Asia to take part in the World Amateur Muay Thai Boxing Championships.
6. Talented youngsters perform on stage
Pupils at Kirklandneuk Primary delighted friends and family with their performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. The hit Andrew Lloyd Webber musical was performed by children in P5 to P7. Jodie Miller played lead role of Joseph.
