Kayleigh McGowan from Renfrew has appeared on billboards and in TV adverts all around the UK.

The 16-year-old stars in EE’s newest advert alongside her mum as well as having her face on billboards across the country.

Kayleigh, who attends Bannerman High School in Glasgow, said: “The main focus at the school is the performing arts, so we tend to get quite a lot of messages from agencies and people reaching out with opportunities.”

After getting called back for a second audition, Kayleigh’s mum was also contacted asking if she wanted to join the fun.

She said: “It was really lovely, my mum kept it a secret from everybody, everyone knew I auditioned for it, but nobody knew my mum was going to be in it until they saw it on the telly.

“It’s very strange, my friend first saw the advert and he texted me saying he saw me on the telly, and I thought 'You’re kidding, no way'.”

“I Googled it and found the advert and ever since, if anyone says that they’ve seen it on a certain channel my mum has it stuck on that one for a week straight so she can see herself on there.”

Kayleigh has managed to see herself and her mum on Sky Sports, Comedy Central and Channel 4.

The advert originally aired in mid-August but just last week she found herself on billboards around Paisley.

She said: “There was a massive billboard outside the train station in Paisley and I thought it would be so funny if they put my face on it.

“My mum was driving me to dance class and I saw they changed it, and I was on it so we pulled over and stood and took pictures in front of it.

“My friend is staying in Birmingham for college, and she’s even got a billboard right outside her accommodation.”

Kayleigh added: “It was nerve-wracking but exciting. I was quite nervous because we didn’t get to see any of the cuts or pictures that they were going to use. It’s fully up to them once you’ve done your part, they take it all away and decide what parts are seen.”
