Some exciting changes have been revealed ahead of the return of a much-loved event.

Thousands of people will descend on the centre of Paisley next month for the town’s tenth Halloween festival.

It is set to take place on Friday, October 25 from 4pm to 9pm and Saturday, October 26 from 2pm to 9pm, with a spectacular 300-strong parade winding through the streets each night from 7pm.

The event’s centrepiece, it will feature professional performers, festival favourites including PyroCeltica and Spark! LED Drummers, as well as community groups from the local area.

There will be more places to watch the spooky sights, with the new town centre route taking in Mill Street for the first time.

Those coming along can expect to see a ghostly pirate ship, glowing jellyfish, towering puppets, bubble-blowing witches, cowboy zombies, stilt-walking trees and loads more in the parade.

“We’ve not had a parade as part of the programme since 2019 and this year more people will have the chance to watch it as we’ve expanded the parade route onto Mill Street for the very first time," added Pauline.

“The return of the parade is not just an exciting thing for visitors, it will also showcase Renfrewshire’s vibrant grassroots cultural scene by providing more than 1,000 opportunities for local people to get involved and participate.”

For those wanting to join in the fun but not able to stay for the main event there will be plenty of daytime entertainment to enjoy.

This will include live performances on the stage at Bridge Street and at the County Square and eerie lighting displays on some of the town’s most iconic buildings.

Paisley Central Library on the High Street will be running Halloween arts and crafts sessions while The Art Department will have free spooky lantern making workshops.

There will also be marshmallow pits and a devilish selection of street food options.

Those coming along are advised to look out for the flaming gargoyle, the ghost ship, giant witch and bubbling cauldron to name but a few.

The event is free to attend with lots of great spots across the town centre to view the parade.

A new addition this year, however, will be a small number of ticketed grandstand seats available offering a fantastic view of the parade on Cotton Street in the town centre.

In addition to the programme of activity taking place across the town centre local businesses and partners in Paisley are also putting on Halloween-inspired activities for visitors.

“Paisley Halloween Festival is one of the most popular events in our calendar that not only offers a great experience for visitors but brings a significant economic boost to the area,” explained Pauline.

“I’m really delighted to see so many local businesses and partners get involved with this year’s event by staying open late or putting on their own events for visitors.

"It’s shaping up to be a spectacular event.”

Grandstand seat tickets go on sale today (Thursday, September 19) and are priced at £15 per person.
