Erskine Veterans Charity hosted a game award to celebrate care home residents' sporting achievements across Scotland.
The Sporting Senior Games Awards 2024, hosted in partnership with Glasgow Caledonian University, recognised the efforts of more than 100 competitors.
The event, held at the Glynhill Hotel in Renfrew earlier this month, saw 23 teams from locations including Glasgow, East Ayrshire, West Lothian, Ayr, Coatbridge, Kirkintilloch, and Bishopton come together.
They competed in a variety of sports, including basketball, ten-pin bowling, curling, boccia bowls, and javelin.
The teams were made up of care home residents, who celebrated their participation in the games.
Dawn Skelton, Professor of Ageing and Health at Glasgow Caledonian University, said: “These types of events allow care home residents to take part in fun games competition but with the ultimate aim of increasing their physical activity to improve physical function, health and quality of life."
Paralympic gold medallist para bowler Pauline Wilson and Paralympic curler Aileen Neilson were present to hand out the medals.
The highlight of the event was the announcement of the winner of the John Bowman Trophy, named in honour of a former Erskine resident.
The award, recognising the best-performing team, was given to the team from the Erskine Reid Macewen Activity Centre (ERMAC).
Ian Cumming MBE, chief executive of Erskine, said: "Erskine’s Sporting Senior Games are a fantastic initiative that involves the entire Erskine community, as well as our friends from care homes across Scotland.
"Events like these are truly inspirational.
"I would like to congratulate all our worthy winners."
