Two public consultation events are to be held on a potential new residential development in Lochwinnoch.

Cala Homes (West) have revealed plans to construct 75 private homes on land between Garpel Burn and the former St Joseph's Nursing Home to the southwest of the village.

The housebuilding company is currently preparing a planning application for the project and have submitted a proposal of application notice (PAN) to Renfrewshire Council.

According to the firm, the potential development would consist of a mix of three-bedroom terraced and four and five-bedroom detached properties, as well as 25 affordable homes.

The proposed site would also be “surrounded by generous green space and will feature a play area, village green and various connecting active travel routes around the development.”

Information on the applicant’s website states: “We are now progressing with our preparations for the submission of a planning application in the coming weeks, which will include an initial public consultation.

“This is being held on Thursday, September 12, between 1pm and 7pm at the McKillop Institute, Main Street, Lochwinnoch PA12 4AJ.”

According to the PAN, a second event will also be held on a tentative date of either October 10 or 24 between 1pm and 7pm at the same location.

Both events will be hosted by Cala Homes (West) and supported by project team members.

During this time, the applicant and members of the project team will be available to respond to any questions and receive feedback on the proposals.

As well as the public, among those also invited to attend include Councillor Andy Doig, Cllr Gillian Graham, Cllr Chris Gilmour, Cllr Emma Rodden, MSP Tom Arthur, MP Johanna Baxter and Lochwinnoch Community Council.

Anyone who cannot attend the public exhibition can call 07824 314 204 or email lochwinnoch@ryden.co.uk to request a copy of the consultation boards.

Those who wish to make comments on the proposals shown at the first event, may do so via a feedback form available at the event or the project website, by email to Lochwinnoch@ryden.co.uk or in writing to Ryden, Onyx, 215 Bothwell Street, Glasgow G2 7EZ and by no later than Thursday, September 26.

A note at the end of the PAN states: “This notice does not relate to a planning application. Comments should not be made to Renfrewshire Council.

“Any comments made to the prospective applicant are not representations to the planning authority.

“If a planning application is subsequently submitted to Renfrewshire Council normal neighbour notification and publicity will be undertaken at that time and you will have the opportunity to make formal representations regarding the proposal at that time.”
