Renfrewshire home care workers are set to receive a pay rise after the union reached an agreement.
Unison Renfrewshire has signed an agreement in the ongoing home care dispute which will see a majority of workers also receive back pay.
Mark Ferguson, Renfrewshire branch secretary and UNISON regional convenor, said: “Without the determination and solidarity of our members and the will to take strike action if necessary, we would not have achieved this success.
“The grade for home carers has now moved from Grade 2 to Grade 4, with most members being near or at the top of the new grade and receiving an hourly rate of around £15ph which has been the aspiration of many of our lower paid members for years.
“UNISON will now continue to work on the many other issues raised with us during the dispute such as lone working, lack of facilities and drinking water, health & safety, etc.”
The union said the agreement will provide the recognition workers deserve for carrying out an important role for vulnerable and elderly members of the community.
