1. Young builders hit the mark
Enterprising youngsters from St Mark's Primary got some new skills under their belt when they visited a specialist centre. Councillor Tommy Reilly who daylights as a lecturer with West College Scotland, welcomed the youngsters to the college's Robertson Street skills centre.
2. Blakey: Being captain is a huge honour
Mark Blakey insisted captaining Arthurlie was an honour, a privilege and a dream come true. The full-back was handed the captain’s armband for Craig McEwan’s first match in charge and continued the role.
3. MP lends a hand at Barrhead foodbank
Politicians dropped into Barrhead’s East Renfrewshire Foodbank to lend a helping hand stacking the shelves. Councillor Danny Devlin, Cllr Jim Fletcher and Labour MP Jim Murphy all visited the Arthurlie Street charity to help raise awareness.
4. Murdo proves there’s life after the X-Factor
A Kilbarchan singer-songwriter hit the high notes following his X-Factor appearance. Despite not making it past the judges panel on the hit ITV talent contest, 17-year-old Murdo Mitchell was gearing up for a busy festive season ahead.
5. Malawi-bound team will build new school
Children in Malawi were set to benefit from the hard work and kind-hearts of Renfrewshire Council trade workers. A team of over 30 workers and apprentices volunteered to build a school in the country for a project being run in partnership with the charity Classrooms for Malawi.
6. Council team inspired by African adventure
Seven Renfrewshire Council employees returned from a life-changing volunteering trip in South Africa. The team travelled with charity Habitat for Humanity to Pelican Park, Cape Town, to help build houses as part of the city’s biggest, and first fully integrated, housing project.
