Councillor John Shaw has provided an update on the “utterly shambolic” roadworks currently taking place on Inchinnan Road in Renfrew.
Speaking in a post on Facebook, Cllr Shaw said that he had spoken to the chief executive of Renfrewshire Council.
According to Cllr Shaw’s post, the chief executive “accepts there are lessons to be learned from the way this particular project has been handled".
Cllr Shaw also said the chief executive had confirmed that “the contractor and traffic management will now be clear of Inchinnan Road and McClue Road by the close of play on Thursday.
“They will still be on Argyll Avenue as there is still work to be done there, but hopefully this should not affect the main traffic flow,” the councillor added.
The roadworks were meant to be finished by August 15, but the completion date has now been pushed back to August 18.
Councillor Shaw said in a Facebook post last week he had “no confidence it will be finished by then.”
He added today: “I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there are no more surprises between now and Thursday, as the first day at school on Friday is stressful enough for everyone involved!”
In the Facebook post from last week, Cllr Shaw described the situation as “utterly shambolic."
“The decision by the City Deal team to have no onsite supervision of these works along with the contractor seemingly unprepared and under-resourced has led to the town paying a heavy price for this mess,” he said.
