Renfrew residents have played a key role in reducing poverty and food waste as Tesco recorded total donations of 220 million meals to those in need.
The supermarket chain donated the meals through its Community Food Connection initiative in collaboration with food charity FareShare.
Tesco paid tribute to its colleagues, volunteers, and community groups who contributed to the success which has seen more than 15 million meals donated in Scotland alone over the years.
Matthew Barnes, chief executive officer of Tesco, said: "Tesco is immensely proud of its partnership with FareShare and the fantastic achievement of donating 220 million meals over the last 12 years.
"None of this could have been done without the passion, determination and drive of the countless people in places such as Renfrew who have contributed to it, and it is to them today that we say a big thank you."
The 12-year collaboration between Tesco and FareShare ensures surplus food from the supermarket's stores and distribution centres gets donated to FareShare's charities, ensuring people in need are fed, and food waste is minimised.
George Wright, chief executive officer of FareShare, said: “FareShare has worked with Tesco since 2012 to help alleviate poverty in the UK by ensuring surplus food within its supply chain is used to feed people and doesn’t end up as waste.”
