GLASGOW Airport has received a ‘very good’ rating in the UK Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) annual accessibility report.
In the report published on August 7, the CAA evaluated all airports in the UK with an annual passenger volume of more than 150,000 on their accommodation and treatment of passengers with reduced mobility and disabilities.
AGS Airports, which owns and operates Glasgow Airport, welcomed the findings.
Ronald Leitch, chief operating officer at AGS Airports, said: "We have committed significant investment and resource to ensure AGS continues to provide the highest level of assistance to passengers that require additional support.
"We want everyone who travels through our airports to have a seamless journey so it is extremely pleasing and rewarding to see our efforts recognised by the CAA in this year’s accessibility report."
The group also owns and operates Aberdeen International and Southampton Airport.
Southampton Airport, too, received a ‘very good’ rating while Aberdeen International achieved a ‘good’ rating.
All airports were recognised for “effectively engaging with disability organisations through an Accessibility Forum”.
AGS implemented several initiatives across its airports to improve its service for passengers with reduced mobility and disabilities.
At Glasgow Airport, in collaboration with the Connected Places Catapult, live trials using AI to improve services have been conducted, focusing on 24/7 communication and improving airport navigation.
