Johnstone residents are urged to join their community council as the nomination deadline on July 31 looms.

Community councils are a focal point for community activity and share the views of their fellow residents with organisations.

Views are passed onto relevant councils, the NHS and Police Scotland.

Interested locals may obtain nomination forms by emailing community-council.cs@renfrewshire.gov.uk.

Renfrewshire Council leader Iain Nicolson, said: "Community councils are a good way to give local people a voice and the opportunity to make changes to where they live.

"As a council, we want to garner the knowledge of local people so it’s important that community councils are established and can put forward the views of the residents.

"If you would like to make a positive difference to Johnstone, then please send your nomination form in before the deadline."

Properly completed nomination forms for Johnstone Community Council will require a proposer and seconder who are area residents listed on the Voters’ Roll, and must bear the signatures of all parties.

Forms received which are incomplete, unsigned, lack a valid proposer and seconder or are submitted past the deadline will be rejected.
