1. Kind-hearted salon teams coin in the cash

(Image: Newsquest) Caring crimpers at two salons in the heart of Paisley and Johnstone swapped scissors for running shoes to raise money for a charity close to all their hearts. The big-hearted team at the Kenneth Edward hair and beauty business brushed off the cobwebs and got ultra fit to run the Paisley 10K to coin in some much needed cash for St Vincent’s Hospice.

2. Talented gymnast wins chance to train with gold medallist

(Image: Newsquest) A talented gymnast won the chance to train with a top Team Scotland Commonwealth Gold medallist. Athletes Libby Clegg and Dan Keatings visited Hutchesons’ Grammar School in Glasgow to host the ultimate insider’s coaching session courtesy of Strathmore’s Do More campaign. Ten-year-old Jude Bannatyne from Bridge of Weir had a blast at a special training session with Dan.

3. Cyclists complete 37-mile cycle for charity

(Image: Newsquest) Fifty-five cyclists completed a 37-mile ride between Moscow in East Ayrshire and Houston to raise money for people affected by cancer. The cyclists, including a 20-strong team from Glasgow Airport, set off from Moscow for the journey to the Fox and Hounds pub in Houston.

4. Former Celtic and Rangers players go head to head

(Image: Newsquest) Celtic and Rangers went head-to-head in Johnstone all in the name of charity. The match, organised by Our Toon Johnstone, was staged to raise cash for Howwood’s St Vincent’s Hospice. Former professional players involved included former St Mirren player Frank McAvennie, former Saints centre half and captain Tommy Turner, Rangers man Charlie Miller, and St Mirren, Liverpool and Celtic hero Frank McGarvey.

5. Hiker raises mountain of cash for good cause

(Image: Newsquest) A hardy Erskine man scaled Ben Nevis to make a mountain of cash for charity. Bill McGowan successfully completed the trek in aid of Help the Hospices.

6. Long service recognition after 25 years

(Image: Newsquest) A dedicated Johnstone woman was honoured for her 25-year service to the people of Glasgow. Gail Fraser was one of 132 Cordia employees recognised at the Long Service Awards held in the city chambers.

7. Kelly off the telly leads charity effort

(Image: Newsquest) TV sofa star Lorraine Kelly shimmied her way to Renfrewshire to help the plight of children living in poverty. The much-loved Scottish presenter was joined by scores of local residents who showed off some of their best Zumba moves as part of a 24-hour fundraising dance session.
