Young people in Renfrewshire recently explored careers in engineering at a summer programme by West College Scotland.
The programme was run in partnership with The Princes Trust Scotland and the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS).
Participants experienced hands-on learning at the college's Paisley Engineering workshops.
They were also treated to site visits to the NMIS’s Manufacturing Skills Academy, which offers advanced manufacturing training and development for people at all stages of their careers.
The team at NMIS, operated by the University of Strathclyde, ran digital manufacturing training sessions at its flagship Netherton facility next to Glasgow Airport.
Students were informed about the opportunities in Scotland’s wide-ranging engineering sector.
Young individuals from across Renfrewshire were picked by The Princes Trust.
The aim was to explore career paths, gain essential skills, and prompt further education interest.
Jose Hernandez, head of Continuous Professional Development, NMIS, Manufacturing Skills Academy, said: "We are delighted to be part of the Transforming Futures initiative, working in collaboration with West College Scotland and The Prince’s Trust.
"This programme provided a fantastic opportunity to expose young talent to modern digital manufacturing concepts.
"By showcasing how advanced manufacturing can offer a rewarding future, we are dispelling outdated perceptions.
"Attracting new talent is vital to the future of the sector.”
