A POPULAR Paisley festival has been shortlisted for Scotland’s prestigious tourism and events industry awards.

The Paisley Halloween Festival is in the running to be named a regional Scottish Thistle winner.

Delivered by Renfrewshire Council in partnership with Cirque Bijou, an internationally recognised circus performance specialist, the annual event has been nominated in the Outstanding Cultural Event or Festival category.

The award spotlights Scotland’s vibrant events and festivals and their contribution to thriving communities and cities.

Additionally, historian Hailey Beaupre of Sassenach Historian Tours has been shortlisted in the new Rising Star category.

This award recognises the achievements of individuals at the start of their careers in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Almost 30 tourism businesses, events, and individuals have been shortlisted and will proceed to the West of Scotland Thistle Awards regional final.

This will take place at the Radisson Blu in Glasgow on September 19.

The winners will then compete at the national Scottish Thistle Awards final in November.

Steven Walker, chair of the Scottish Thistle Awards industry panel, said: “Winning a Thistle Award is a testament to excellence in the industry, allowing recipients to join a prestigious roll of honour.

“It not only raises their profile but also boosts staff morale and acknowledges their remarkable achievements.

“Advancing to the regional finals signifies that these businesses, events and individuals are among the finest in the country, demonstrating their commitment to innovation, collaboration, and sustainability.

"On behalf of the panel, I extend heartfelt congratulations to all regional finalists and wish them the very best of luck at the regional finals and beyond."

Lynne Cooper, regional director of VisitScotland, said: “It is fantastic to see the Paisley Halloween Festival will be flying the flag for Renfrewshire in the regional finals of the Scottish Thistle Awards.

“This exciting event helps bring visitors to the town outside the busier summer period.”
