Cllr Janis McDonald, who represents Paisley North West, said that in her opinion the problem is becoming almost routine “on an industrial scale.”

She told the Gazette: “I am hugely frustrated and appalled at the frequency and persistence of fly tipping across the ward four area.

“The people living and working in Paisley North West do no need to be seeing, managing around and have to report these instances.

“It would be really helpful if, offenders would desist and follow the appropriate disposal routes, people reported any sightings and recorded them if possible and that people check what will be happening with materials when they are getting work carried out for them.”

In June, we reported that fly tipping has been plaguing several streets of the town with culprits even dumping items in the middle of the road.

Tannahill Road, in the Ferguslie Park area in ward four, for example has been littered with everything from sofas and carpets to beds and three-piece suites in recent times.

Following this, we told how Renfrewshire Council had condemned a further shocking instance of fly-tipping in Paisley Northwest at the end of last month which saw huge pile of slabs was dumped on Maxwellton Road.

The discarded items were strewn across the pavement directly opposite St Mary’s Primary School and Early Learning and Childcare Class.

The slabs were dumped in such as way that the passage along the pavement was completely obstructed for pedestrians, with some also spilling onto the road, prompting safety concerns.
