A runner who took up jogging just before her 60th birthday is among those from Renfrewshire who are gearing up for the Paisley 10k and 3k Fun Run.
The event is taking place on August 18.
Irene McIntosh, 66, signed up for the Paisley 10k after hearing from others that it was their favourite road race.
She will be fundraising for the breast cancer charity Walk the Walk.
Irene said: "I’m really looking forward to this run and hope to enjoy my running for as many years as possible, to keep me fit and healthy into even older age."
Complimenting the 10k run, which is suitable for runners of all levels, the event's shorter 3k Fun Run offers a route around some of Paisley Town Centre's most iconic landmarks, including the newly refurbished Paisley Town Hall.
To sign up, go to www.oneren.org/paisley-10k.
Online entries will close on August 16 at 12pm and no entries will be accepted on the day of race.
Robyn Hindley, 32, said that running has been instrumental in overcoming physical and mental health issues.
She is running in memory of her gran, who died last year, and will raise money for the trauma support organisation, Talk Now.
She said: "I had severe issues with self-esteem and weight, but after taking up running not too long ago it has totally changed my life.
"Don’t think I’ll be winning any of the prizes though."
Meanwhile, Jamie Kirk, 33, has embarked on a new chapter after quitting alcohol.
He said: "I've done the Paisley 10k twice and loved it both times. It’s a great route and a great atmosphere.
“I have given up drinking and got back into running this year which has helped keep my mind focused.
“I have signed up for two 10k races this year and I completed the first one last month, so that is my time to beat.
“I am training three times a week and I'm determined to beat my time and maybe even get under the hour mark.”
The Linwood Rangers under-12s football team is joining in, using the 3k Fun Run to fundraise for their upcoming trip.
One of those taking part, said: "It’s such a well-run, inclusive event.
"It’s a great thing for team building, which allows the players' families to get involved too."
