A NEW plan to ensure the promise made to care experienced young people, that they will grow up loved, safe and respected, has gone live.

Plan 24-30 details who needs to do what and by when, as well as where Scotland currently is in its work to keep the promise.

Organisations involved in the 'care system' are now being encouraged to review the plan to understand their role in creating change.

It further sets out who has or must have, a role to play, including the organisations and networks that hold accountability to support collaboration and learning for improvement.

Named because the promise made must be made by 2030, Plan 24-30 is the second plan to set out the urgent changes needed in Scotland.

The six-year scheme was developed by Fiona Duncan, the Independent Strategic Advisor for the promise, and is a consensual design that involves consultation with the care community and multiple organisations in the 'care system'.

Ms Duncan said: “The launch of Plan 24-30 marks an important milestone in Scotland’s journey towards keeping the promise.

“Organisations shared they need a new way of working that includes clarity on WHO is responsible in driving forward WHAT changes by WHEN and supports greater understanding of HOW.

“Whilst keeping track of the progress, accelerating change through opportunities for shared learning.

“Plan 24-30 is not a traditional strategy document - throughout its life it’s content will evolve, requiring ongoing engagement and bold collaborative leadership that celebrates sharing good practice over fears of protecting ‘intellectual property’.”
