A selfless seven-year-old has donated a chunk of her hair to charity to help children going through cancer treatment.

Daisy Clark, from Erskine, offered to get some of her hair chopped after trying to persuade her mum Emma for months.

Emma said that the youngster was "born with a crazy amount of hair".

The ponytails that she got chopped earlier this month measured at just over 12 inches.

A small gathering was held, attended by family and friends.

The hair donation has been sent to The Little Princess Trust - which provides real hair wigs.

Emma said: "I’m not going to say I found this easy to agree to, however, Daisy being Daisy has been determined that she wanted to do this.

"She always went on about it and asked questions that many children probably don't even think about.

"I don't know where it all came from.

"Both I and her dad are so proud of her because she is just the most loving and caring little girl.

"It is a beautiful thing that she has done and Daisy was buzzing when it was cut.

"Her wee best friend was balling her eyes out saying 'I am so proud of my best friend'. It was all so cute."

As well as donating Daisy's hair, Emma set up a Just Giving page which looked to raise some funds for the charity too.

Their goal was to hit £750 to make the wig from Daisy's hair but they have smashed through that goal and they are currently sitting on £915 at the time of writing.

Daisy said: "I’m so lucky to have beautiful long hair, and there are girls and boys who don’t have any hair at all, so I want to give them some of my hair to make them happy again."

Emma went on to say: "She just wants to make everyone happy and that is what she is all about.

"Every school report we get they tell us how she likes to support everyone and try and help when she can.

"It is just in her nature that she wanted to do this and try and make others happy."
