A RENFREWSHIRE MSP is on the lookout for a local hero.
Tom Arthur is seeking to award someone who has made a positive difference in the lives of others.
The winner of the Local Hero award will join MSPs and other local heroes from across Scotland at a special commemorative event on Saturday, June 29, to mark 25 years of the Scottish Parliament.
The event will recognise the achievements of Holyrood over the last 25 years, and celebrate Scottish culture.
Local heroes have a long-running connection with the site, having taken part in opening ceremonies of the Scottish Parliament in 2007, 2011, 2016 and 2021.
Launching the search, Mr Arthur said: “I know many people in Renfrewshire South give their time and energy selflessly to their local community, to make a positive contribution to the lives of others - often without recognition.
“Together with my fellow MSPs, we want to celebrate the achievements of our local heroes across every constituency and region in Scotland to mark the significant milestone of the 25th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament.”
“I am really looking forward to receiving nominations for our local hero in Renfrewshire South, perhaps from their friends, family or work colleagues, maybe even from potential local heroes themselves. If you’ve got a good suggestion, please get in touch.
“In this 25th anniversary year, it is right that the people of Scotland are placed at the heart of our events.”
