A PAISLEY thug punched a busker in a row over a cigarette lighter.
Cameron McDade, 24, pounced on Nathan Robertson in Glasgow city centre's Buchanan Street on October 12, 2023.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that Robertson and another man were busking at the time when they were approached by McDade.
Prosecutor Lauren Sangray said: "McDade asked them for a lighter which was then given to him.
"He refused to give the lighter back and became aggressive towards the pair.
"McDade thereafter punched Mr Robertson to his face twice."
Police nearby were made aware of the incident and attended the scene.
McDade was stated to have been behaving in an aggressive manner at the time.
He was placed under arrest and taken to a police vehicle where he was found with a black-handled steak knife in his jacket pocket.
First offender McDade pleaded guilty today (March 19) to assaulting Mr Robertson.
He also admitted having the blade in a public place without a reasonable excuse or lawful authority.
Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Andrew Cubie.
The sheriff said: "Your bail will be continued but don't read anything into that.
"You had a knife in Buchanan Street which is a public place which is serious."
