Renfrewshire commuters are being urged to take advantage of the extended offer that removes peak-time rail fares until the end of June.

The trial, secured by the Scottish Greens to support households during the cost-of-living crisis and help tackle the climate emergency, was launched in October and was originally due to finish this month.

Following further negotiations by Green MSPs the discount has been extended until the end of June as part of the 2024/25 Scottish Budget.

Ross Greer, Renfrewshire Scottish Green MSP, said: "I’m glad that our special offer has saved local commuters hundreds of pounds during Westminster’s cost-of-living crisis.

"With three more months of discount fares than was originally planned I’d encourage everyone to make best use of the train.

"Bringing back a special offer like this in the future will depend in part on evidence that it has encouraged more people to use the train, so those journeys between now and the end of June are really important."
