A person has died following an incident between Johnstone and Kilwinning train stations.
Services from Glasgow Central to Ayr, Ardrossan Harbour and Largs were experiencing delays, cancellations and revisions.
This was due to an 'emergency incident' between Johnstone and Kilwinning stations this morning (Thursday, January 4).
Services have since resumed as normal.
British Transport Police were called to the Glengarnock station at around 6am to a report of a person on the tracks.
They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
A spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Glengarnock station at around 6am today (December 4) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the procurator fiscal.”
