A MAN has appeared in court charged with culpable homicide following the death of a 27-year-old in Renfrew.
We previously reported that 999 crews raced to Newmains Road at around 2.30am on Sunday, November 5, after receiving a report of an unresponsive man.
Andrew Lees was rushed to hospital where he tragically died a short time later.
Now, Leon Beagan from Renfrew has appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court accused of culpable homicide following the death - which took place almost one month ago.
The 26-year-old made no plea during his appearance and has been granted bail.
It comes after Andrew's family released a heartbreaking statement via police.
They said: "Andrew was a much-loved son who will be sorely missed every day by all who knew him."
Meanwhile, Detective Inspector Nicky Beattie, of Paisley CID, said: "Our thoughts are very much with Andrew's family and we are providing them with support at what is a very difficult time for them.
"They have asked for their privacy to be respected."
