A Johnstone mum fears a large hole in the ceiling of her living room could result in a partial collapse unless it is repaired urgently.
Lynda Mcinally said rainwater had been flowing into the Dundonald Avenue home for several years from the property's veranda.
The 57-year-old now believes her health and safety is at risk as the situation continues to worsen.
Lynda told The Gazette: "My main concern is the water coming in because when there is heavy rain, it runs from the hole in the ceiling.
"The hole creates a coldness in the house and, in the morning, it is absolutely freezing.
"There is bulging around the hole and I'm scared that one morning I'll get up and half the ceiling is going to be down."
There are also concerns about how electrical appliances in the living room are being damaged by rainwater seeping through the hole.
Lynda said: "It's definitely a hazard, as it's already ruined one TV.
"I suffer from depression and this is really making it worse, as I'm trying to get it fixed but nobody is listening or wanting to help."
Lynda's son Alec said he was also concerned about how the situation was affecting his mum's mental health.
He added: "I have put tried using waterproof duct tape to try and channel the leak, but when there is heavy rain, the water just pulls it down.
"It's upsetting my mum and has to get sorted as soon as possible.
"The amount of times I've had to email Renfrewshire Council to to try and get them to fix it is ridiculous.
"It's getting beyond a joke now, I think they're just not getting on top of it."
A Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: "We are aware of an outstanding repair required for this tenant.
"Our contractor has attempted to get access to the tenant’s home in recent months, without success.
"We have now contacted the tenant today (Monday, November 13) and are committed to getting the full repair work carried out as soon as possible.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of this matter."
