Year-round flights from Glasgow Airport to a new destination have launched.
EasyJet is now running a route from Glasgow Airport to the exotic beach city of Hurghada, which is known for being a scuba diving hotspot.
We previously reported that the airline announced the twice-weekly flights would be starting in November to provide customers with an escape to a winter sun oasis.
The first flight took off on Wednesday morning and guests can now book seats on the Wednesday and Saturday services.
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK country manager, said: “We are delighted to have launched our new service from Glasgow to Hurghada, providing our customers with direct and convenient departures twice a week and brilliant winter sun packages to Egypt’s scuba-diving hotspot.”
Christopher Tibbett, head of airline relations and marketing for Glasgow Airport, said: “It’s great to welcome back the Hurghada service and to see easyJet add yet another sunshine route to the airline’s growing destination list at Glasgow Airport.
“This Red Sea destination has everything from stunning sandy beaches with some of the diving sites in the world to the old-town charm of Hurghada City.”
