Renfrewshire South MSP Tom Arthur is encouraging local residents in need of help to attend one of his street surgeries.

The SNP politician's most recent engagement session took place in the Kilbarchan Road area of Johnstone, which he hosted with Councillor Emma Rodden.

Mr Arthur said: "It's so important to be as accessible as possible for my constituents.

"I have a high street constituency office and regular advice surgeries, these street surgeries are yet another opportunity for local people to air their views and get assistance from my office.

"The response to my recent street event was overwhelming, with so many people getting in touch to organise appointments for the day."

With several more surgeries planned over the coming months, letters will be sent out giving notice of street surgeries in each area as they are scheduled.

This is to give constituents the opportunity to contact their MSP ahead of time and make arrangements for a personal visit.

Mr Arthur added: "The numbers involved really confirmed for me how vital this type of localised engagement is, both for constituents seeking assistance and also for myself as constituency MSP and local councillors to hear first-hand the pressing issues affecting people in the area.

"We took forward a range of cases from the street surgery on widely varying subjects, from anti-social behaviour and consumer protection to neighbourhood improvement projects and housing issues.

"I would encourage anyone who receives a letter notifying of a street surgery in their area to get in touch on 01505 331 990 or at tom.arthur.msp@parliament.scot."
