Local pipe bands are set to appear at the Royal National Mòd later this year.
Councillor Andy Doig said he had helped secure a "leading spot" for Kilbarchan Pipe Band at the event, which will take place in Paisley this October.
He told The Gazette: "Kilbarchan Pipe Band have had an astonishing year in which they have taken the piping world by storm, and won various competitions at Scottish, UK, and international levels.
"In doing so, they have put Renfrewshire on the map as a leading centre of traditional Scottish music and to celebrate that I lobbied the Provost to recognise their ongoing achievements via a civic reception.

"Further to that, I realised that the National Mòd was coming back to Paisley for a second time this coming October.
"So I liaised with council officers and put forward the idea that this would be a key opportunity for Kilbarchan Pipe Band to showcase their talents and ability at what is the leading international festival of traditional Scottish music."
Councillor Doig said Kilbarchan Pipe Band will be performing at the prestigious Our Language Our Music event, which will take place at Paisley Town Hall on Saturday, October 14.
He added: "This really will be an occasion when we can say the eyes of the piping world will be on Kilbarchan and I am sure they will do us proud.

"Earlier this year my wife Audrey and I attended the Scottish Schools Piping Championships, in Kilmarnock, and were delighted when the Renfrewshire Schools Pipe Band, which covers all secondary schools in Renfrewshire, won third place at the freestyle event.
"So they too will be accompanying Kilbarchan Pipe Band at the Our Language Our Music event."
