A CARING pub in Renfrewshire has raised over £4,000 for two good causes in memory of a beloved customer who died after suffering from cancer.
We previously reported that Habbies Bar and Grill on New Street in Kilbarchan were holding a fundraising event in memory of Peter Colquhoun on Saturday, August 5, and Sunday, August 6.
Peter, who was a regular punter in the pub, tragically died in May earlier this year.
Joanne Paterson, 54, the manageress at the venue, previously told The Gazette the idea of the event was sparked following a conversation she had with Peter before he passed away.
She revealed that the 67-year-old wanted to do something for charity to give back after receiving treatment for his condition.
In total, the pub raised £4,355 for the Beatson Cancer Charity and St Vincent's Hospice in Howwood at the weekend.
Joanne said: "We are absolutely overwhelmed with the amount we have raised for these two amazing charities.
"The weekend was a fantastic success - community spirit is alive and well in Kilbarchan and surrounding areas.
"We really can't thank everyone enough."
