CARING pub staff in Kilbarchan are set to hold a special event to pay tribute to a former customer who sadly died after suffering from cancer.
Habbies Bar and Grill on New Street in the village will be holding a fundraiser event in memory of Peter Colquhoun on Saturday, August 5, and Sunday, August 6.
Peter, who was a regular punter in the pub, tragically died in May earlier this year.
The weekend to help raise cash for two good causes will include live music, face painting, bouncy castles, raffles, and an auction.
Joanne Paterson, 54, the manageress at the venue, told The Gazette the idea of a fundraising event was sparked following a conversation she had with Peter before he passed away.
She revealed that the 67-year-old wanted to do something for charity to give back after receiving treatment for his condition.
Describing Peter, Joanne said he was a real "character."
She said: "Peter was a character and a great guy.
"If you ever needed help with anything he would help you out. He was always a regular in the pub and he was just a really genuine nice guy."
Cash that is raised from the weekend will be donated to the Beatson Cancer Charity and St Vincent's Hospice in Howwood.
