MORE than 160 runners turned out for a special edition of Linwood parkrun on Saturday morning.
The seventh anniversary of the local 5k run, as well as the 75th anniversary of the NHS, was celebrated at the ON-X sports centre.
David Mushet, event director of Linwood parkrun, said the event was "really busy."
He told The Gazette: "It was a really good atmosphere and the second highest number of runners we've had this year.
"Many people put on their parkrun Milestone t-shirts and there were around a dozen who ran in their various NHS uniforms.
"There was lots of cake, as well as juice and biscuits, with people staying afterwards for a wee chat after the run.
"The weather gods played their part and everything went the way we hoped it would."
David is one of the original group of volunteers who helped set up Linwood parkrun in 2016.
He said: "It's good to see something you started still going seven years later and still attracting healthy numbers.
"I'm delighted that it's still prospering and flourishing.
"We would encourage people to come down as it is free, and you just need to register once to take part in any parkrun event in the world."
The free event takes place every Saturday, starting at 9.30am, and is open to all abilities and age groups.
