A housebuilder is planning to construct around 70 new homes in Kilbarchan.

Cala Homes West recently submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PoAN) to Renfrewshire Council and is seeking to develop the currently unused plot of land that sits adjacent to Barrhill Crescent in the south-east of the village.

The land was allocated for housing by Renfrewshire Council as part of the Local Development Plan, which was approved in 2021.

The proposed housing development will include a mix of private and affordable homes, with ample greenspace woven into the masterplan.

Current proposals include approximately 70 three, four and five bedroom homes, and affordable units.

Cala Homes West is inviting Kilbarchan residents to a community consultation event on Wednesday, June 14 to learn more about initial plans.

The event will take place at Kilbarchan Parish Church between 3.30pm and 8pm, and the community are encouraged to attend and leave feedback on the proposals.

Graham McNeil, land director at Cala Homes West, said: "We are in the very early stages of developing concepts and designs for the site in Kilbarchan and look forward to sharing initial proposals with the local community at the upcoming event.

"We plan to work closely with the local community, neighbours and stakeholders, including Kilbarchan Community Council, as we progress and refine initial designs. Feedback from the event will help shape this."

A second stage consultation is planned for August 2023 and more information about this will be available closer to the date.
