A Johnstone woman is pursuing her lifelong dream to be a Disney princess by entertaining local youngsters at birthday parties.
Niamh Ollerton, 24, has been performing as various fairytale characters since she launched her business Starlight Darkness in January.
Before starting her new venture, the former Johnstone High pupil had tried to find work as a Disney performer at their theme parks.
She told The Gazette: "When I was a teenager, I applied for the role but I was told I didn't meet the requirements.
"Last year, I came up with the idea of starting my own business where I would dress up as princesses and provide entertainment at kids' birthday parties.
"It's been going really well so far and the feedback has been great.
"I've had parents messaging me weeks after a birthday party saying their little girl was still talking about their favourite princess coming to their party.
"I think it's been the best thing I've ever done, to be honest."
Niamh performs as a number of Disney princesses, such as Elsa from Frozen, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Merida from Brave.
During her special appearances, she hosts various party games as well as a 'crowning ceremony' for the birthday girl.
Niamh said: "I really enjoy seeing their wee faces light up when I walk into the room as their favourite character.
"I never had a Disney princess at my birthday parties when I was a child because of our money situation, so I keep my cost fairly low so that parents can afford it.
"I don't do this for the money-making aspect of it, I do it to bring magic to children, as that's what it's all about."
When Niamh isn't entertaining youngsters at birthday parties, she works as a nursery teacher at Ralston Out of School Care, in Paisley.
She is planning to grow her business further by holding a 'Tea Party with The Rose Princess' event this summer.
Those who go along to The Hazel Arms, in Johnstone, on Sunday, July 30, are encouraged to dress up as their favourite princess.
The fun event, which runs from 2pm to 4pm, will include activities such as arts and crafts, face painting and dancing.
