A teenager has been arrested after allegedly discarding a machete while being pursued by police in Paisley.
Plain-clothed officers from the Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit approached the 18-year-old suspect in George Street at around 11.35am on Friday.
It is claimed the teenager tried to flee the scene on foot and discarded a 40cm-long machete during the chase.

Police said the man struggled with officers during his arrest and was found in possession of drugs and cash worth an estimated total of £2000.
He was charged with possession of an offensive weapon, resisting arrest and misuse of drugs offence.
The suspect is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.
