A Paisley family who "lost everything" in a house fire had a special day to remember after being given the chance to meet their footballing heroes.

Jim and his wife Alison were left distraught after a fire tore through their home in the Foxbar earlier this year.

The family were "left with nothing" after the blaze, which was the result of an electrical fault.

Rangers FC heard about the tragedy through their charity foundation and invited the family, who are lifelong fans of the team, to visit the Rangers Training Centre.

The Gazette:

They were able to look around the facility and watch the team train.

Rangers manager Michael Beale and captain James Tavernier later met with the family and awarded them with free season tickets.

Michael said: "We know you've had a really rough time as a family and everything.

"This is the least we can do for all the support that you give us and the team."

The Gazette:

Jim told of how he and Alison had been on holiday in Mexico when he found out that their home was on fire.

His grandson Tyler was treated for smoke inhalation after he rescued the couple's dogs from the blaze before fire crews arrived.

Jim said: "I've had a season ticket for more years than I care to remember.

"I've followed Rangers all my life."
