The family of a Renfrew man who went missing on a Spanish holiday island more than a month ago claim police there aren't doing enough to find him.
Gary Shearer, 53, disappeared shortly after flying out to Lanzarote on March 16 to celebrate St Patrick's Day.
His stepfather Danny said the family haven't heard from the island's police force for almost four weeks and had to organise two searches themselves when they went there to look for him.
"We have friends over there and they say nothing is being done and no searches are being carried out," he told The Gazette.
"We went to the police in Scotland and they got in touch with Interpol, who contacted the police over there, but they have heard nothing back either."
Danny, 65, went to Lanzarote last month with Gary's 71-year-old mum Ann and sister Michelle in the hope they could find him.
They were met at the airport by the local police and gave a statement the following day but have had no contact from officers since.
Danny, who works for a recycling company in Renfrew, added: "The police said at the time they were doing searches for Gary but we never saw any.
"They had the helicopter out for a couple of days but that was about it. They haven't done enough, in our opinion.
"We were told they would keep in touch but we are getting no information whatsoever."
The family have now asked the British Consulate for help.
Danny said: "It is very frustrating that we can't get any answers. When you don't hear from them, you then wonder what they are doing, if anything."

Gary disappeared from outside Bar 67, in Puerto del Carmen, in the early hours of March 17 and failed to show up for his flight home a week later.
The last sighting of him was on CCTV at around 1.30am, when he was lying unconscious in a shop doorway next to the pub.
Several passers-by spotted him but did not raise the alarm.
Danny fears Gary had forgotten which hotel he was staying at and may have crossed the road with the intention of going to sleep on a beach opposite Bar 67.
At the time of his disappearance, Gary had 70 euros, having left the rest of his holiday money in the hotel safe.
He had phoned his mum to say he had arrived safely and was about to go out for a meal.
Gary suffers from epilepsy and type 2 diabetes.
When last seen, he was wearing a hooped Celtic top, shorts and white Nike trainers with green and yellow flashes.
He has short hair, is 5ft 2ins tall and walks with a distinctive limp.
Police in Spain have asked anyone who has information on Gary's whereabouts to contact them.
Information can also be passed to Gary's family by calling 0772 209 4907 or 0730 524 3618.
