A CIVIL engineer was caught driving while under the influence of drugs.

Sean Harris, 26, was pulled over in Glasgow city centre on November 26, 2021.

Police officers observed white powder on his nose and smelled cannabis in the BMW.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that there were also passengers within the vehicle.

Prosecutor Gail Campbell said: "Harris provided a positive roadside test for cocaine."

He was taken into custody where a blood test showed that he had 25 microgrammes of cocaine in a litre of blood when the limit is 10 microgrammes.

Harris, of Paisley, pleaded guilty on Monday to driving while under the influence of cocaine.

Waqqas Ashraf, defending, told the court that Harris has refrained from further drug use since the incident.

The lawyer added: "He has managed to get his life back on track and is a civil engineer for an organisation in Bathgate.

"He is in a good place.

"The conviction will have a significant impact on his life, as he works at different sites across Scotland, and he will have to negotiate with his employers about his duties.

"It will cause him a number of difficulties, but he knows it is the consequences of his own actions."

Sheriff Andrew Mackie fined Harris £245 and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
