A MAN has been arrested after allegedly trying to abduct a taxi driver in Renfrewshire.
It is claimed the 56-year-old passenger began acting aggressively towards the victim as the cab was travelling along Glasgow Road, in Paisley, at around 10pm on Thursday.
Police said the suspect produced a knife and held it next to the taxi driver's face while the vehicle was still in motion.
The victim, who managed to stop and get out of the vehicle, was then reportedly followed by the man on foot.
Police said the taxi driver soon returned to his vehicle and drove off.
The suspect was later traced by officers and taken into custody.
He has been charged with attempted abduction, breach of the peace and possession of a knife.
The suspect is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.
