A RENFREWSHIRE nightclub has offered to provide Nicola Sturgeon with a private booth this weekend following her announcement that she is to stand down as First Minister.

Vienna's & Blur, in Paisley, has poked fun at the news, with a humorous open letter to the politician speculating that her resignation is due to her plans to attend the nightclub's cheap drinks event on Friday.

Their Facebook post states: "First off, we would like to thank you for your eight years service to Scotland as the First Minister. Whilst not everyone agrees with your politics, our thanks are extended.

"We know the press will hound you, for the real reason you are resigning, we believe we know.

"We do not believe it is a coincidence that you will be visiting Paisley Book Fest on Friday, the same day that we offer "All Drinks Just £2.50", we also know you are a huge fan of our resident Friday night DJ in Blur, Tom Urie.

"Combining these factors, we believe that you plan on joining us this Friday, and can't face going back in to Holyrood on Monday, halfway through a four day hangover.

"Therefore, we would like to offer you a private booth in Blur, to enjoy our £2.50 drinks, whilst listening to the best of the 70s, 80s and 90s (there will be Abba) in Blur; and if you fancy going upstairs to Vienna's, our Friday resident, DJ Brian Hope, will be dropping absolute bangers from 10pm.

"We look forward to seeing you on Friday."

Tom Urie then commented "She loves me" in the comment section, along with a picture of him with the First Minister.
